Fostering Talent and Democratizing the Public Narrative: A Focus on Underrepresented Communities in Journalism and Photography
My approach to education is focused on promoting, teaching, and nurturing talented emerging professionals in journalism and photography from underrepresented communities and countries worldwide. Through my scholarship programs, I seek to enhance their skills and capabilities in media practice, visual journalism, narrative, ethics, business, and entrepreneurship.
Through this initiative, I aim to create a culture of knowledge-sharing that will contribute to the democratization of the public narrative.
Scholarships Available
The Refugee Diaries with Vudi Xhymshiti (August 7, 2022)
Eligibility Requirements: Local photographers who are both citizens and residents of Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Nigeria, Palestine (Occupied Territories), Sudan & South Sudan, Ukraine, Venezuela and Yemen.
Three-Month Scholarship Course in Photojournalism for Young Aspiring Photographers from Ukraine
Free three-month photojournalism scholarship course for young Ukrainian photographers. Applicants must be 19+, speak English, and reside in one of Ukraine’s 24 provinces.
While students engage in tests and exams, they are not given permission to venture onto the frontlines of war. However, this program aims to foster the democratization of the public narrative through knowledge-sharing. The application deadline for this program was May 15, 2023.
A total of 28 individuals applied, and ultimately, 13 were successfully enrolled in the program.
REQUIREMENTS
By submitting an application, scholarship applicants agree that if they are selected, they will be fully and unconditionally bound to these Terms and Conditions.
The VX Pictures Education scholarship program will be administered in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations including, but not limited to, those promulgated by the UK Home Office of Home Affairs and the U.K. Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Home Office, Export Assets Control.
Scholarship recipients retain all copyrights to their work.

This may include the possible exhibition and/or publication of your work in connection with the program for educational and/or community outreach purposes, including lesson plans, and for publicity and press purposes related to the program. Any photograph used by the program will carry your credit/copyright line.

Please understand that by accepting this scholarship, you waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. We also acknowledge that Vudi Xhymshiti’s educational programme, and his respective affiliates, VX Pictures outlet, officers, directors, employees, and agents do not have and will not have any liability whatsoever for any illness, injuries, losses, death, litigation, claim or damages of any kind to persons or property resulting in or in part, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from the acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any scholarship.

Q: Who is eligible for the scholarship program?
A: The VX Scholarship is open to young, aspiring photographers who are interested in pursuing a career in photojournalism. Applicants must be 19 years or older, proficient in English, possess a computer and a DSLR camera, and currently reside in one of Ukraine’s 24 provinces.
Q: What is the duration of the scholarship program?
A: At VX Scholarship, we offer a range of scholarship programs that vary in duration, ranging from three to six months. We are committed to providing young, aspiring photographers with the opportunity to enhance their skills in photojournalism and pursue their dreams. Our scholarship programs are designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and practical experience to succeed in the field. Whether you are interested in media practice, visual journalism, narrative, ethics, business, or entrepreneurship, we have a program that can help you achieve your goals.
Q: What do scholarship recipients receive upon completion of the program?
A: At VX Scholarship, we believe in empowering our scholarship recipients to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals. Upon completion of the program, scholarship recipients will receive a reference letter that can help them stand out in the competitive field of photojournalism. But that’s not all – we also offer the opportunity to join our VX Pictures outlet as a contributing photographer.
This can open up doors for exciting new opportunities and help you build your portfolio. And who knows? With dedication and hard work, there may even be a chance to become a full-time staff photographer. Scholarship Terms and Conditions
VX Education scholarships are open to working photographers or visual journalism students who are trying to further their education and professional skills.
Volunteers, employees and directors of VXP Education and their immediate families are NOT eligible to apply for funding.
Advisory board members and their immediate families are NOT eligible to apply for funding.
Scholarship application judges, and their immediate families, are NOT eligible to apply for funding in the year that judges help choose recipients.
Only those submissions that meet the eligibility requirements and include all required materials will be considered for entry.
