Funding Delays and Final Triumph: The Completion of the ETNOFOTO Project

In a project as intricate and culturally significant as “ETNOFOTO,” delays and unexpected challenges are often part of the journey. I am pleased to announce that the “ETNOFOTO” project has finally been completed in June 2024. The post-production phase, which included meticulous editing and compiling of the photographs, has culminated in a comprehensive digital archive now accessible to the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports via email. Financial reports, reflecting the transparent handling of funds and the meticulous budgetary allocations, were submitted in December.

The post-production delays stemmed from a funding bottleneck. Although the contracts were signed in August, the Ministry’s funds were only transferred to my account in late December. This unforeseen delay had significant repercussions on the project timeline. The project’s execution began in August and concluded in November, but the lack of immediate funds hampered the post-production phase. Only upon receiving the funds in December was I able to proceed with post-production, ultimately pushing the finalization to June 2024 due to overlapping commitments with other projects.

Regrettably, the delayed funding also impacted the planned public relations campaign for “ETNOFOTO.” The funds, expected in August upon contract signing, were received four months later, disrupting the strategic promotion timeline. Consequently, I was unable to execute the PR campaign as initially envisioned.

I am relieved and proud that “ETNOFOTO” is now complete. However, the challenges faced have underscored the complexities of relying on government-funded projects. The delays not only affected “ETNOFOTO” but also had adverse effects on my personal and professional commitments. Given this experience, I am hesitant to engage in future public funding opportunities, prioritising projects with more reliable financial backing to ensure smoother execution and post-production phases.

Despite these challenges, I am thrilled to share the remarkable journey and the accomplishments of “ETNOFOTO.”

Unfortunately, I cannot publish images or make them available to the public due to contractual and agreement terms with the sponsors. However, once the sponsors have accessed the materials, it will be up to them to decide how to proceed with the produced content.

Completion Amid Controversy: ETNOFOTO Project Update

Following my investigation into media mogul Berat Buzhala’s alleged ties to organised crime networks linked to Belgrade, Buzhala’s outlet falsely claimed I misappropriated project funds. In truth, funds were delayed by four months, yet the project was executed before their arrival. Post-production delays were due to late funding, not project neglect. Buzhala’s article was retaliatory and baseless.

I submitted a complaint against the article to the Kosovo Press Council. They (partially) agreed that Buzhala’s outlet breached the code of conduct by not giving me an opportunity to respond. However, I have filed a complaint against the Press Council’s decision, as the entire article is false, and I am awaiting their response.
